Congratulations to everyone who competed this weekend!

This weekend (7/31 and 8/1) was super exciting!  Our Lightning Warriors Youth Triathlon team had two separate groups racing at two different triathlon events. Several Warriors completing in their first triathlon.

The weekend started with a group that traveled to Voice of America Park in West Chester, OH to race at the USA Triathlon Youth and Junior Nationals. All eight Warriors experienced such an intense event for the first time. The town hosted over a thousand athletes.

Anthony K. and Abby T. did their best jobs on Saturday’s Age Group Event. Afterwards, we watched veteran Olivia E. race in the Junior Elite Race.  It was an exciting morning.

A huge congratulations to both Bart C. and Stella E. on Sunday. Myla K. did an extraordinary job.

Abby T. and Amanda T. raced their first open water triathlons. A special note to Florian C. for doing his very first race and reaching fifth, which got him on the podium stage!

To make the weekend complete, on Sunday, another Lightning Warrior group raced at the Smith Point Triathlon. Maddy C. along with Riley F. did their first open water swim triathlons, finishing silver and bronze in their high school division. Nicky A. still succeeded with his race, despite a mechanical malfunction.  Hannah C.’s relay team topped the podium for the high school relay division.

Everyone did such wonderful jobs and I am proud of every one of you guys. You have worked so hard to reach such achievements.

I am thrilled for these triathletes and families. The experience of traveling to any triathlon event provides memories that last a lifetime.  We are impressed and grateful to watch these families fold the sport of triathlon into their lives.

Triathlon is special and unique in every way. This sport is not just about swimming, biking and running -but empowers and provides children with experiences and life skills. We are working to make triathlon available to all!
